Ep.214 | 5 Minute Drill | Hear Less Criticism. Get More Advice.

How open-minded are you? When’s the last time you allowed others to play devil’s advocate to your ideas and viewpoints?

You’d be shocked at how much of a role open-mindedness and curiosity plays in your ability to unlock your greatest capabilities.

In today’s 5 Minute Drill, we’re going to talk about criticism and the benefits of it. Yes, there are benefits to criticism! (sorry know-it-alls)

If you want to more consistently use constructive criticism to your benefit, then make sure to lock in to today’s Drill.

LET’S GET IT!

[00:01- 09:19] Opening Segment

  • J.R. shares a story about a time in business where he received brutally honest feedback from a team of peers

[09:20 – 10:57] What’s The Drill?

  • STEP 1: Scan the key areas of your life and ask yourself, “Where are you being closed to others’ ideas? Where do you feel you have it all figured out and are being closed to others’ thoughts and feedback?”
  • STEP 2: Ask yourself, “What are you going to do about it?” You noticed you’ve been closed to others’ ideas in certain areas of your life, so how are you going to be more open-minded and let them know you’re going to be more open-minded towards them?

[10:58 – 12:33] Wrapping Up!

  • What’s coming up on the next episode
  • Final words
